"Humanising War, Obscuring Peace"
a conversation with Yale historian and legal scholar Samuel Moyn
To acknowledge the first anniversary of the Ukraine war, we have uploaded "Humanising War, Obscuring Peace", a wide-ranging interview with the remarkable historian and legal scholar Samuel Moyn.
Although Moyn published his book, Humane: How the United States Abandoned Peace and Reinvented War, well before the start of the Ukraine war and with a specific focus on the United States, his analysis offers numerous rich insights that help us better understand Putin’s war, especially when viewed from the perspective of a West that considers itself to have moved beyond more “backward” wars of aggression in favour of more “humane” military interventions.
